Their research shows that visual problems increased 50 percent among patients who consumed up to 14 drinks per week compared to diabetics who don 't drink at all.
The team followed 1239 patients with type 2 diabetes and has conducted eye tests.
Over five years, 182 suffer from vision problems caused by diabetic retinopathy, which is linked to their condition. There was no increase in those who drank alcohol.
However, nearly 700 patients have seen their overall vision deteriorate.
Among this group, the risk of eye problems have increased among drinkers.
