great soul bands are hard to find these days. The likes of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, The Delphonics and Parliament-Funkadelic are still there, but these are the guys from the East Coast. Aloe Blacc is the West Coast, the second label of recent successes Coasters Mayer Hawthorne. But apparently the West is not as to the mark than their brothers cross country, so the concert began, I was told that this guy has a lot to prove ...

Aloe is not new to the scene, with the second album Good Things hit the public domain quite difficult to finish. Citing a mixture of hip-hop, soul, funk, reggae and the influences and genres he worked in (no specific acts such as many musicians do), Aloe faced a rap group (Emanon) in the 90s, recorded a cover of a song by John Legend (in Spanish), and HBO has chosen her 'I Need A Dollar' title for the drama based securities NYC fashion scene "how to do in America" . Not a novice to the industry by making an effort then.

After a few tunes and soul rare northern Hulston DJ Dave and Paul Barker, the group began the test, sorry, all with a ten minute block. Then the crowd control in the Strait have been a pretty good mood when Aloe is down and broke his way through songs like 'So Hard' and 'politician. "Extending a whole two hours, Aloe threw in versions of Michael Jackson and Prince covers cheese that are not in the least, and expertly executed. Aloe has a big voice, does not miss a note, and the band were very good too, despite some wrong with an impromptu free-style mid-set.

With a mixture of hip-hop heads and soul Bhoys' in the crowd, everyone loved him, and he was looking rather dapper, chatting with the ladies in the crowd, encouraging dancing and asking everyone to clap along 'Soul Beat' - double time for the rest of you.

In conclusion, the boy from the West Coast was not bad after all.

Good things are now on Stones Throw Records.
