Alcoholic Husband Must First Admit To Having A Disease

There are some things you can do to help your husband and things to avoid. You want to avoid nagging, complaining and asking him to stop drinking. Do not protect him by lying to his boss or other people. You do not want to be a catalyst.

One of the positive things you can do is to attend a meeting of Al-Anon. Training and advice from this group will help you cope with your husband with love.

Al-Anon Family Groups and Alcoholics Anonymous is listed in the telephone directory. There are also lines 24 hours hot listed. You do not have to go through this alone. Support groups have the experience to help you find the positive. Make sure you and your son are not in danger.

Separate yourself if that becomes necessary. Many alcoholics times are abusive verbally and physically. There are already signs of emotional abuse. The isolation you feel and your son are the result. Your son may face problems of self-esteem of being ignored by his father.

Contact Al-Anon as soon as possible. You need a strong support system. There is help, and your husband can defeat this disease if they admit it and ask for help. It may take a carefully planned comparison performed with the help of experts to make him face his problem.
